ROCKINGHAM — In just a day’s time, the Hickory Ridge softball team went from hitting four home runs in a third-round victory to getting bounced from the fourth round of the state playoffs without a hit or run to show for it.

The Ragin’ Bulls made the trip to Richmond Senior on Saturday to battle for a spot in the 4A Western Regional Finals, but their season — and six-game winning streak — came to an end with a 7-0 loss in the quarterfinals.

Richmond ace Greyson Way pitched a no-hitter and earned 12 strikeouts during her seven innings on the mound.

Junior shortstop Cori Sprinkle, who hit two of Hickory Ridge’s four homers in Friday’s third-round upset at Providence, almost got a hit on Way at the top of the sixth, but her ball picked up some extra wind and was caught in right field.
