It’s been a very long time since the Mount Pleasant boys tennis team has accomplished what it did on Tuesday.

After breaking 28-year drought by winning the Rocky River 2A Conference last year, the Tigers easily handled Forest Hills, 8-1, to claim its second league crown in a row.

It is believed to be the first back-to-back conference championship run in the history of the Mount Pleasant boys tennis program.

The Tigers clinched the title without much drama, as they don’t even finish their conference schedule until Monday, when they play host to West Stanly. But Mount Pleasant coach Elizabeth Webb said it certainly felt good to crowd as champions once again.

“It was a bit overwhelming because we’ve worked so hard, and the guys just really appreciate it,” Webb said. “They don’t take it for granted, and they can see that all this hard work they’ve put in has led to their success.”

Tuesday’s championship win helped the Tigers improve their record to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the RRC.
