Eligibility : What if my child did not pass enough classes or missed too many days to participate?

By staff, 03/03/18, 8:00AM EST

Eligibility for 7th and 8th graders for the second semester through the end of the year is based on the first semester of the 2020-21 school year. Academically, a student must pass 3-of-4 core classes the previous semester and be promoted to be eligible. For attendance, a student in Cabarrus County must not have missed more than 13 days of school the previous semester. Eligibility in those two areas will be determined once tryouts begin. A student who tries out for a team may later find out they are ineligible once grades and attendance are certified. Grades take time to be entered and be reported, so to avoid this situation, if you feel your child may be in danger of either threshold, please contact

Parents, please check powerschool daily, keep updated on your child's grades, IF they are failing 2 Core (Math, Science, English or Social Studies) classes, your child will not be eligible therefore he or she shouldn't tryout. This will avoid any heartache for the student-athlete, parents and coaches. Thank you.
