Concord High Schools men’s soccer team continues to succeed under head coach Todd Tinsley, advancing to the Class 3A state semi-finals with a win over East Lincoln, before falling to Hickory.
2021 marked the team's fourth consecutive playoff experience and the second time playing in the semi-finals, the deepest the Spiders have ever gone in the state playoffs in the program’s history.
Other notable accomplishments:
The Spiders posted a 14-0 record to win the South Piedmont 3A Conference.
Senior Forward Oliver Coreas and Junior Midfielder Jackson Kirila earned NC 3A All-State Honors.
Jackson Kirila also earned national honors being selected to the All Mid-Atlantic Region Team.
Madison Hill, a Jay M. Robinson junior, defeated Research Triangle’s Sabrina Grewal in the Class 2A Women's Individual Tennis State Championship finals to earn her first state championship.
Hill also won the Yadkin Valley Conference title and the 2A Midwest Regional crown this season.
In the Class 3A Women's Doubles Tennis state tournament, the Northwest Cabarrus team of Kate Allen and Najla Shariff finished as runners-up, falling in the finals to Cape Fear’s Brook Bienick and Anna Piland. This season, Allen and Sharif had been both South Piedmont Conference and 3A Midwest Regional champions.
